Most people think that you need to have long experience in sewing when you want to make something. It is not necessarily true, actually since you can always come up with simple yet attractive projects with the needle and the threads. There are loads of stuff that you can make for your sewing crafts, such as smartphone case, baby’s bib, a tote bag, and so many more – depending on your preference. Here are some ideas for your DIY sewing crafts projects.
You can always buy attractively patterned fabric without having to spend a lot of money and turn it into attractive pillowcases. I have made mine from very affordable fabrics, and the process is quite easy. First, you need to choose a fabric with a single image or several smaller images – it is up to you. Then, you can cut the fabrics into the sizes of your pillows. Mae sure to leave extra several inches – at least an inch – so you can sew the fabrics on the inside and then turn it inside out for cleaner and neater result. You can have your own personal pillowcases without having to spend a fortune.
There are several ideas for the pillowcases, such as stitching out names or quotes on the case. You can write the words with pencil first, and then use bright and bold colored threads to create the words. Once you are done, simply wash the cases so the trace of the pencil will be gone. There you have it; your own personal and unique pillowcases that no one has.
Attractive Tote Bags
There are several options that you can have when making the tote bags. You can use your used jeans or shirt, or you can turn a simple fabric into a tote bag. If you are using old and worn jeans, leave the waist and buttocks area for the bag. Stitch the area of the legs, so they will be enclosed and be the bottom of the bag. From the remaining legs of the jeans, cut two long strips for the shoulders. Attach them to the inner of the waist and you can have your own tote bag without the fuss! Remember, though, that dealing with jeans can be quite tough, so you will need stronger threads and needles.
If you have small patches from old fabrics but they have cute or attractive images or patterns you can always make a baby quilt from it. I once made one, from small patches. I cut them in uniformed size in square form and then I connected them to one another until it created a small cute quilt. Some people may choose to add padding into the quilt, but you can leave it out if you don’t want to. Make sure to choose very soft fabric if you are going to make the quilt, so the baby won’t suffer from skin irritation or allergy.
You can buy a clean and white handkerchief with simple line and design, and add the word stitching on the corner – just to make it look different. Write down the words with a pencil first, then stitch the words up. You can have personalized handkerchief in no time!
