There is this sense of ease, breeze and lots of colours splashing around, associated with the summer season. It’s more like recalling those light-hearted feelings, the ones nurturing the kid within you. So, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t introduce all this excitement and comfort right where it belongs the most, i.e. your home. The good thing is that you don’t need to be a millionaire to make the most of your summertime.
Don’t go out chasing, just bring it in!
Though one of the best things about summer is to be able to chase colour, life, buzz and happiness outdoors, but let’s change it a bit this summer; why not bring it in? Introduce lively colours and fresh live plants into your home interior to feel fresh and energised, as you would feel outside. Live plants not only require low maintenance but also keep blooming throughout the season, which makes them a budget-friendlier option compared to buying cut flowers (again and again!).
Little is big this summer
The fact of the matter is that embracing summer is more a “frame-of-mind” thing than be willing to spend a truckload of money in the name of welcoming change. So, don’t think people won’t find you summer-ready unless they see you sweating out landscaping your garden (though it could be a wonderful idea if you have the time and money, lots of it actually!). Things as little as changing wintery accent pieces and accessories like throw pillows, vases, window treatments or even artwork can work wonders if done rightly, choosing more breathable, lighter, natural shades, fibres and textiles to welcome home the summer. Tweaking with furniture layout can also be really helpful in this regard.
A beach of a bedroom!
Trust me; it’s not as difficult as it sounds. A little innovation, a little personalisation and a few steps to be taken, is all what you would need to turn your bedroom into your dream come true (or something close to it, to say the least!) beach retreat. It’s as easy as hanging an inexpensive canopy right on top of your bed in the fabric of your favourite colour to get the dramatic flair needed to make your diy room decor a paradise beach retreat. A few oversized plush pillows on the bed can really serve as icing on the cake. If you want something even more dramatic and impactful, a couple of vases filled with colourful rocks and shells (available easily from most neighbourhood craft stores) can spruce the ambience up for you. One great idea would be to resort to those cheap faux leather beds, making sure that no clutter finds its way in your bedroom to ruin the mesmerising charm of your beach resort.
Jazz it up with some seating
Yes, it could be as simple as jazzing up the whole breakfast area by doing nothing more than adding a bench to replace some of those types of chairs, simple yet effective. Depending on what appeals you the most, it can be anything from a vintage iron bench to a classical wooden one, or even a wicker loveseat can do the trick. You just have to be yourself and ready to change a bit, that’s all.
Consistency is good
Yes it is, especially if you are planning to embrace this summer season well enough, sticking to your favourite colour theme, which happens to be turquoise this season, as insisted by many top interior design specialists. Now all you need to do is make sure to have a pinch of your favourite hue here and there in everything you buy. For example, you might resort to accent pillows, which offer you economy as well; you can change the look of a whole room by adding them up. Once pillows are there, you can conveniently wash and replace them whenever you feel like.
Liven up the bathroom as well
This might not sound much like what majority of people would prefer doing in the name of welcoming summer, but the fact is that livening up the bathroom offers you yet another convenient way of making the most of your summer, most importantly, without losing stacks of cash. This year brings you the rising trend of bathroom rugs, available in attractive prints as well as shapes.
