GRAY OR BLUE

I have had these lamps for a while, and wanted to do something different with them. They started out as gold base lamps, with a brown dupioni shade. Well time for a change, and gray they became. I had no fabric until that trip to Ikea that I keep referring to.

Not making me smile yet.

Fabric, Hot Glue, Scissors…Lets go.

I saw these colors and thought this fabric was a cool combination of what I like.

They look great to me.

But I wanted to try a touch of blue to only one, just to see if I liked it.

DSC_0010

Liking it for sure. At least I think I do.

DSC_0039

I am very indecisive, and I mean very. I love gray a bit to much sometimes.

BOWL FOLLOW-UP

This is just one of the pictures I had in my mind when I saw these bowls. Mr. Styles is a workout lover, and watcher of foods he eats. His salad was good.

Pasta next.

See. Plenty of Room. Buy one.

When a girl loves her shoes (18)

I love Toms. This is my first pair, and the start of a beautiful friendship. I also love the fact that my purchase helps a child who needs a pair of shoes. Super comfy, stylish and easy breezy.

Ikea Light Fixture

So I saw these fixtures (black ones below) somewhere online, and thought. Hmmm. I like these. I think the prices were a bit crazy, and I thought how can I replicate these. Well when we were in Houston last week, and stopped by Ikea. I picked up the Melodi light fixture for $12.99 and thought about doing something with it in my daughters bathroom. I quickly changed my mind once I got home and saw the black fixture below. I thought they looked sort of similar, so why now try it. Plus I think I have a thing for installing light fixtures. Something about seeing it come on.

IT WAS HERE….UNTIL

I decided to spray the Melodi with oil rubbed black spray paint, and up it went.

Mr. Styles likes the fixture and the location. He says

”It reminds me of alley way lighting. The hall now has an alley effect that will lead up to my room. I like it Babe.”

So it’s up for now, until something new comes my mind. I love light fixtures. We have actually been thinking about installing recessed lighting OURSELVES.

I found this image at the last minute while composing this post. But same concept. I would spray the insides with a copper colored spray paint and spray the outside a glossy white. Ideas are spinning around as I type. To bad I only had one fixture to play with,

So what are your thoughts on the Melodi? And has anyone installed recessed lighting yourself? Do tell, please.

Battle Of The Styles’

It’s known around these parts that Mr. Styles and I often battle over style. Be it interior, or clothing. I will give it to him…he has a great eye for clothing, and decorating. His love for all things old is not my style though. Don’t get me wrong. I love his ideas, and the things he brings home to work on. But my style is just a bit different. But he wants to move us to a farm so go figure. He loves everything old with meaning, and The OU Sooners. Also old door handles, doors, tins, signs, jars, period items that tell a story…things like that. If we go shopping, I would want to go to the mall. He would rather go to “Thrifty” or Lula B’s as seen here on his last trip. I have to turn something's down, because he gets to excited with project ideas. Its fun though. I enjoy the battle, and the laugh that we have over it. We even put our kids in the mix, and let them judge. Never a dull moment, but good fun over design. I love it.
He has a room that he is working on, and I have given him freewill to do his thing (he will probably laugh at this statement). No TAMARA involved at all in this space. It has been emptied, and ready to go.
Stay tuned for what he is doing, and a video shortly.
(NO NEED TO BE ALARMED. NO ONE WAS HARMED DURING THE TAKING OF THESE PHOTOS)

LaQuan Smith

I spotted LaQuan Smiths talent on House of Glam, and was instantly smitten with it. The attention to detail, the colors, the fit…all scream GET IT GIRL. He is a major talent who already has high profile celebs rocking his fashion pieces. I envision major success for him. It can only get better, and go up from here. Below are images of his latest collection that make me exhale. The colors are so inspiring to me. I look to these for fabulous interior inspiration.  The brain is thinking.

(the checks represent an interior palette that I would love to create)

The LaQuan Smith woman, who is the personification of modernity, sensuality, and liberation in femininity continues to rise in the fashion industry. The bold prints, unique silhouettes and unique inspiration will surely set LaQuan’s work this upcoming Autumn/Winter 2011 Season apart from the rest. LaQuan states “Women have always inspired me to create. When it comes to women I understand their essence and my designs allow her to make history".

Ruffle Curtain

As usual I was at Tarjay just minding my own business, and spotted these ruffle curtains. I have always been a fan, but not of the price tag. This one was only $19.99 so in it went. They are a little short because they measure 84’, but would still work if I lowered the rod. If you like these. They also come in black which was SOLD OUT.

These run between $48-$78 on Urban Outfitters for each panel. Umm, NO. I refuse, but that’s just me.

What are your thoughts on the Tarjay panel? Should it stay or go?

Thumbs up or Thumbs down?
