Due to the Holidays, I will be away for a tad. However, I hope and pray that each and every one of you that reads this, has a wonderful Christmas. Enjoy your time off with your family, and smile. I will do the same. I look forward to a quiet day, of gratitude.

A Dish Is Not A Dish

I have slowly become a lover of all things dish. Not as the holder of food, but rather the holder of jewelry. Long gone are the days of heavy cherry wood jewelry boxes taking over a dresser or nightstand. But just a simple dish, with a hint of cuteness to hold your precious jewels that are used daily. Making small changes like this, are ways to evolve from the old to the new while saving space. Of course I recommend having something in addition to this for all of your other fabulous pieces. But I would suggest storing it in a closet, or other space for the overall clean look.

How do you store your rotating pieces?

My Childhood Bedroom…

digs

Blog for digs is a fundraiser being organized by interior designer/blogger Claudia Clobes and Beth Dotolo of Hello Splendor. Several bloggers have chosen to participate in this wonderful cause, which allows design bloggers and its readers to give back to the one thing we love design. All monies raised during Blog for digs, will benefit Dwell with Dignity. Those that are not familiar with Dwell for Dignity, here is a brief summary.

Dwell with Dignity is a non-profit group of Interior Designers and volunteers dedicated to creating soothing, inspiring homes for families struggling with homelessness and poverty. We provide and install home interiors for families that include furnishings and art, bedding and kitchen supplies, and food in the pantry. Our mission is to help families escape poverty and homelessness through design. One household at a time.

Talk about a great organization. Below are a few before/after photos of what they have done for some very special people.

Before and After Picture

Before and After Picture

Its funny that this is the topic of this post. Unfortunately, I did not have a childhood bedroom. Believe me, I dreamed of one and wanted one so badly. I shared a room with my mother, and little sister during my upbringing. My mother was a single parent, and we lived with my grandparents. I was always in aww though of my friends rooms. I never wanted for any material thing, expect my own room. So since I don’t have photos. I will post what I wish my room looked like.

I always wanted a canopy bed as a kid. I have one now.

This was my baby. I took her everywhere with me. I loved her…until

Baby alive came into the picture…I feed her everything. I loved her until….

THE CABBAGE PATCH KIDS came into play. Fun times.

Although the space was limited, I had this huge house which I loved, and played with everyday. I had so many Barbie's that I turned them into The Knots Landing Cast.

I attended Catholic School, and we were being taught on Apple Computers. So my Grandmother decided she wanted to get me a computer to use at home. Some how the salesman turned her from an Apple to a Commodore 64. BIG WASTE of money. I never had a chance to do anything with this thing. I have no clue what happened to it. But her heart was in the right place. I was happy that Christmas even if I couldn’t work it.

I loved the Jets ( I GOT A CRUSH ON YOU) and wanted to be their friend so bad as a kid. I had their poster on the wall, along with every other poster from Right On magazine.

I was one of those kids that loved to play office. So my Aunt ordered me some notes from Lillian Vernon with my name on them. I played office in our room, and had these little papers everywhere. Fun times though.

This was great fun, and it brought back so many memories….

L.A.M.B star skirt

Some of you inquired about the skirt that I was wearing at the Rue party. It is a skirt from the L.A.M.B. line by Gwen Stefani. I purchased it a few years back, and cant find it anywhere. You really cant go wrong with her skirts. There is usually some type of eye catcher in the line just waiting for you. The blue dress worn by Reese Witherspoon is L.A.M.B. also. I just think that dress is dreamy. So mix up the ruffles & stripes a little, and they are good friends.

LAMB Spring 2011

Anyone that knows me…and I mean really knows me. Knows that my favorite line is

L.A.M.B. by Gwen Stefani

I love the risks that she takes with her line. Bold printed clothes, and super edgy shoes. Most of the bags in my closet are L.A.M.B.—I went through a time where I had to have every bag from each collection. They are all eye catching, and not something that you will see on every woman walking the street. Every once in a while I will see a LAMBIE, and go up to him/her and show love.  I cant help myself. Its like seeing an old friend on the street. Our bags are cousins. And on the flip side how good does Gwen look. I love that she represents edgy style beyond 20. The older I get, the more I tend to go against the grain, and I love it.

Below is the L.A.M.B. 2011 Spring Line. My favorites are pictured.

And in parting…here are four fabulous bags. My favorite is marked! It would look fabulous with denim and a semi-wrinkled white or fuchsia cotton shirt, and pumps.

New Sponsor- Smashion

Happy Wednesday LOVIES. Hope all is going well with you all today.

This morning I want to introduce a new sponsor of GIGS for all of you that live a fashion filled lifestyle.

Smashion. Smart People. Smart Fashion.

Smashion enables users to buy or sell lightly-worn or NWT (new with tag) apparel and accessories on a no-fees marketplace. And in the meantime express their unique style, and converse with each other on fashion topics. The site is their response to the growing trend in wearing second-hand clothing and the lack of a community-based, fashion-focused online marketplace where fashion-conscious individuals can make the best use of their wardrobe. They want to show closet recyclers, and resellers that they don't have to go to consignment stores to sell their merchandise -- where they will lose a percentage of their profits. Their hope is that users will have fun refreshing their wardrobe, while finding great deals to restock their closet with, and keeping all the profit for themselves. Cant beat that huh?

gal2

1) They have absolutely no fees (registration, transaction, or listing) and sellers keep 100% of their sales.
2) Listings stay up indefinitely or until removed by seller
3) They are a community, complete with a Smashion Lounge, dedicated fashion blog, newsletter, style gallery, discussion forum, and of course, marketplace.

They are also currently running a Holiday User Referral program in which one winner will win $100 cash. Click here for more info.

Below are a few photos from the actual users of Smashion, as posted in the style gallery. There is a large database of photos to get lost in…which any fashionista would love.

gal1

So be sure to check them out, and make yourself a few dollars. I have a huge bag full of clothes that is actually sitting idle. And waiting for me to make that Smashion move.

Welcome Smashion!

Office Remix- Option 2

Last week I posted that I was in need of an office change. Below is option #2 of what I am thinking. The color of the walls would I am envisioning is a silver with a ting (sound effect please) of purple. Just a ting. The only thing about this color pallet is the window panels. I am deadlocked in my mind with what I want to do. I was thinking of a blue (not sure what shade), or a white. In my head I am thinking sensible lux. More lux looking, but sensible because I do have kids, and I will actually will be using it.

option3

SO I have one final look coming up, and lets hope it’s my final debate.

So what are your thoughts on this one?

TamStyles

Janet Jackson Barbie Doll

The Janet Jackson Barbie Doll by Mattel has me at HELLO. I saw this and dropped. I cant wait to buy it. I was this lady when I was in the 4th grade talent show, and won. I danced, and rocked an earring with a key. If you are a follower of Janet's and American Idol, you will recall this is what she wore during her performance on the show, along with her new cropped haircut. At any rate, love her. People tell my daughter that she looks like Penny from Good Times ALL the time, so this doll will be a great add all the way around in our home. The proceeds of this doll goes to Project Angel Food.

I actually think it looks like her. What do you think?
