KEEP OUT

I have been asked about my daughters room a few times, and the headboard update. Well…lets just say its a bit on HOLD.

So for now. It stays just like this. Until I decided to finish up what I started. I have two other pieces of fabric that I was thinking of changing the headboard to. I now know that she needs a TOUGHER fabric for her headboard. A change is gonna come. Hopefully soon.

A Modern Space

Since the purchase of my mid century modern credenza. I see my style for my den slowing evolving into a modern space. I hate to really label  my style with a definition, but it is what it is. I was watching the new HGTV show Secrets From A Stylist from the new design star winner, and loved what the work produced in the living room. Go Emily. I’m excited to see your talent showcased on HGTV.

This sofa I am in love with. I think I am SOLD. Now can I find one? Good move Emily! I am sure the creator of glee (above), is gleeful with his space.

Below are some spaces that I love of other bloggers. Though not all are fully modern, there is hint somewhere in the space. I love the clean lines of a mod sofa, or the wood tones of a mid century credenza or desk.

Thoughts?

Do tell? What you think of this rug.

Mine are: Would look great in a simple room as the inspiration or “pop”

or would look tacky if its in a room that’s to busy. I think the rug would look very modern if done with the right pieces. Not something I would put with my linen antique sofa or in my office. But its due to have its opinions.

Baggin With Courtney

Meet Courtney of Breaking Down, the Big Beige Box and see what she’s BAGGIN

cou

What: Kenneth Cole

Age: 6 yrs: It's the first "expensive" handbag I bought with my sales bonus right out of college

Contents:

1. Wallet

2. Work phone/Blackberry not pictured; used to take pic

3. Random book of Wedding toasts (Needs to be mailed to a friend who is a MOH in her sister's wedding)

4. Totally random false eyelashes and glue (Another wedding care package for a bride friend who is doing her own makeup. Can you tell I need to go to FedEx?)

5. Measuring tape- always with me. Even makes it into my work bag for those detours in between sales calls.

6. Aquaphor-best lip balm/multipurpose salve ever

7. Small pouch of good luck trinkets given to me by my amazing Aunt Beck (see below for more detail)

8. New personal calling cards from fabulous stationary.

Why: I love black, leather, and brass for starters. Secondly, this bag can do it all- from accompanying me to a fancy pants dinner to carrying a full bottle of wine when I run out of room in my Eco friendly grocery bags. It has taken a beating quite gracefully.

Shoes From Rebecca

Look at a sneak peak of the Rebecca Minkoff Spring 2011 shoe line. This is the first for the popular designer, who is most known for her popular MAB, and Nikki handbags.

I love the shoe below in black and beige with the many straps. HOT. 2011 look promising.

New Sponsor- Brace Yourself Boutique

Lets welcome a new sponsor. Myishia of Brace Yourself Boutique. An online store for the person that wants their accessories to stand out and be seen. She offers a variety of jewelry designs to fit everyone's need. Casual day would be such fun wearing her pieces with my jeans, tank, and Chuck Taylors (similar to Myisha’s style below). Myisha also offers a SIP and SHOP which gives the customer the opportunity to shop, and “sip” in Ontario California. Please help me welcome her, and her store to GIGS!

My Story:  I started designing jewelry in 2000 due to the lack of "boho" or untraditional designs in retail stores. I could never find what I was looking for, so I decided to start designing my own jewelry.  While wearing my designs many of my co-workers and girlfriends took notice and began asking me to make jewelry for them as well.  So I began taking custom orders, frequenting bead stores, collecting various beads, and designing when the mood struck me.  I soon had several designs filling up my studio and I had no way to get rid of them.  In May of 2007 I decided to participate in my first marketplace to sell my jewelry.  The marketplace was a success and soon after Brace Yourself Boutique was born!  I've since participated in numerous marketplaces, trade shows, and craft fairs.  I've also created a seasonal women's shopping soiree'

(Sip n' Shop, Girls Night Out) to showcase women designers, and business owners.

My Inspiration:  I'm inspired by many things...seasons, travel, love, fashion, nature, and daring, funky, and bohemian chic women.

My Mission: My goal is to create funky, colorful, and untraditional bohemian style jewelry that goes beyond the changing trends.  I like creating pieces that are timeless, and can be worn today or 10 years from now.

My life:  I am a mother to a wonderful and super inquisitive 10 year old son named Myles, and wife to a very intelligent yet comical husband named Dion.

My advice: Why are you trying so hard to fit in when you were born to stand out
