Black, Yellow, Beige

Have you seen these at Tar-Jay? I am in love with this set. There are also some kitchen towels that match. I keep my mitts in a drawer so there is not a lot of woo woo going on, but the towels would make a nice statement. Just waiting for that $6.00 price tag to go down just a tad bit. I may just take the leap this weekend.

DSC_0139 What are you buying this weekend?

In other news, I must share. We will be laying our dear cousin Vivian to rest this Saturday. She lost her battle with breast “c” at the young age of 35. She leaves behind these beautiful children. YOUNG CHILDREN, and loving husband. Please send up a sweet note of thought for her family please. This could be any of us. My heart is heavy, and my soul is sad. It is going to be hard for us this weekend just seeing their pain, and next week as well because we are sending off our aunt Nell who lost her battle with “c” as well. Yall take care, and never take one day for granted. We only live this life once, so do what makes you HAPPY while you can. If its decorating, fashion, writing, blogging, DO IT!

West Elm Sale

I spotted these Dove Gray parsons tables at West Elm for $39 each. I have professed my love for gray and had to have them. I am not sure where or what I will do with them just yet, but trust me..They will work someone in this house in a fab way. The sale was really sick. All the items in the “sample” area was marked 50% off, plus take an additional 50% off.

*These are just staged, nothing special. Just wanted to make sure I shared them with others that would think as highly of them as I do. (LOL)

Linen Backs

I lusted over these frames at West Elm until I saw the tag per frame. I love the linen look. Very Chic. So I headed over to IKEA and bought a few frames to try this project out.

Supplies:

Heirloom White Now

Okay…do you remember this piece? Remember I bought it from Marshalls for $12 because it was missing the mirror in the middle. Well I put some muscle in it, took some pointers from Michelle, and came up with something revamped that worked.
DSC_0814
Here is the pattern I went with, and hot glued it down. EASY.
DSC_0072
That Heirloom White is so classically fresh without being stark white. GET SOME NOW!
DSC_0130DSC_0126
Looking at this photo is almost perfection to me. Once that rug is gone, and my floors are done it will be perfect. Honestly, I love where this space is headed. I don't think I even want my TV mounted at this time.
DSC_0138
Even this picture of my husband brightens my nightstand up. This frame was black until I popped that Heirloom White on it as well.
DSC_0120
I have been lusting after these sticks from Ikea for months. After seeing them in JCrew, I had to stop procrastinating and bring the home. They add texture in a natural way, and replace a fake faux palm tree that was in that same spot.
DSC_0136
I made some other changes as seen in this photo…can you spy them?

Build A Room

This dress is HOT. Kate Hudson Rocked it from head to toe at the SAG awards. A room built around this dress would be gorgeous.

Bam, Ready…

Here she is. All painted up and ready to show. I ordered a few pulls, which should be here this week. So in the mean time, I painted the originals, and they actually look nice. I was having a hard time finding some in the 6 inch length, so this may work. We will see. All in all I think this was my favorite piece to do. This color has opened me up to the freshness of Spring. I want light and airy all around my room at this moment. The project was pretty easy. I sprayed primed, sanded the laminate top, primed it as well, painted the drawers, and lastly the whole dresser. I let it dry, and painted the top again the next day...along with the sides and back. After everything was 100% dry I sealed it with the poly. I went over it with poly again the next day....and the next day. So total I polyed for 3 whole days. It shows, and is perfect in my eyes. Hope you like it!

I used:

EBay to make the purchase ($9.99 + $89 for shipping)

Heirloom White spray paint (Home Depot)

Kilz Spray Primer

Metallic Silver Spray Paint (Wal-Mart)

Clear Gloss Wipe-On Polyurethane

Stay Tuned…There is more that I did in this room over the weekend.

Tam's Closet

Happy Friday Ladies…a few readers requested a post with something from the closet. I did this at the last minute so its not looking as neat as I would like, so next time it will be better. I Promise.

Here is a sample of something I would wear on the weekends. My favorite jeans of all time.

True Religion Disco Jeans (with Swarovski crystals)

LAMB Trenchtown Handbag

Aldo Heels—or cute sneaks if attending my sons game

White Tee (any kind, fitted)

optional- Striped vest, but I would change bags if I wore the vest

DSC_0873

Why are these my favorite jeans? To be honest the crystals. This photo does not do then justice. They sparkle and shine at every move.

Now this shirt has ruffles so if I would wear it with the jeans I would not do the vest.

DSC_0865

I found this vest a year ago at F21, and I love it. There is something about stripes on the body and on the walls of a home, yes?

When A Girl Loves Her Shoes + Her Guys (12)

These shoes were worn to work yesterday for the first time. Talk about walking on a pillow. WOW. I found these on sale for $27 on Aldo.com I love a camel shoe. When done right it can really transform a basic outfit.

I surprised him with these Billy Reid specials. He loves them.

Damn

I sat this paint up on a chair with excitement to show my husband, and before I knew it…It hit the ground and paint went everywhere. This is our movie room so I wanted black, but not on the floor. DAMN! We had someone come out last week to give us a quote on flooring. We did not plan on starting with this room, but I guess it will now have to be first now.

DSC_0834 DSC_0835On the flip side…Home Depot is discontinuing Ralph Lauren paint and replacing it with Martha Stewart which I am not happy about. All the paint is discounted. Gallons are $13 and Quarts are $6

Now is the time to stock up on paint. You cant beat that price for anything. $13 for a gallon is sick and we know this paint is the bomb. I need to start gathering colors I want, and buy up for future projects…As I replace my black.

TamStyles

A day of projects

So I painted up the dresser, stripped the paint off of my sons desk, bought a sunburst with no mirror for $12 at Marshalls, primed the sunburst, and the rest is waiting in the wings.

(Don't be afraid, its only paint)

DSC_0809

DSC_0814

I had never used paint stripper before. This stuff will burn the hell out of your skin. I had on gloves and it damn near ate through the gloves.

DSC_0817

But look at this with primer only. I know its missing the mirror, but we can still make this bad boy work somewhere in the house. Suggestions?

DSC_0816

Here is a sneak peak at the color. The bottom is primed, and the top is the Heirloom White.

DSC_0768

I plan on lightening the master up, and this is a start.
